{"id":5743,"date":"2018-12-27T21:44:36","date_gmt":"2018-12-27T21:44:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oapac.ca\/site\/?p=5743"},"modified":"2021-11-26T13:37:11","modified_gmt":"2021-11-26T13:37:11","slug":"diabeteswebinars2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oapac.ca\/site\/diabeteswebinars2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Diabetes Care Inter-professional Webinars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theaudiologyproject.com\">The Audiology Project (TAP)<\/a> is working with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/diabetes\/ndep\/toolkits\/ppod.html\">Centers for Disease Control (CDC)<\/a> to raise awareness of audiology and diabetes care.\u00a0 We\u2019ve long known that diabetics need to be monitored by audiologists, however, many family physicians and diabetes educators are not informing diabetics to monitor their hearing loss. TAP and the CDC are hosting several webinars on the subject. The webinars for inter-professional diabetes care are targeted to those who work in pharmacy, podiatry, optometry, audiology and dental care.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Academy of Doctor of Audiology will host the seminars.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>All webinars will be recorded for future viewing. Continuing education units will be offered to each profession for a total of 6 hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>OAPAC will post the link for the webinars in this post once it is available.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>What are the proposed learning objectives for this education activity?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Each profession of pharmacy, podiatry, optometry, dental and audiology will present on the spectrum of their diabetes care focus:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1) what they do in diabetes care<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2) why their profession is important in diabetes care<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3) examples of problems and solutions they encounter with persons with diabetes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4) what they want the other medical professionals to know about their role in diabetes treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bellow is the schedule:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>January 22, 2019.\u00a0 12:30-1:30pm ET: <em>Pharmacy<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Speaker: <strong>Susan Cornell, PharmD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Midwestern University<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/register.gotowebinar.com\/register\/3679364325305428993\"><strong>Click here to register for the course: \u00a0https:\/\/register.gotowebinar.com\/register\/3679364325305428993<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>February 26, 2019. 12:30-1:30pm ET: <em>Podiatry<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>Speaker: <strong>Dennis R.
